Surrounded by beautiful countryside, the rural location of Sleap Airfield has been the enviable home of Shropshire Aero Club since 1955.
Visitors have a fantastic panoramic view over the airfield and beyond towards the Welsh hills from the relaxed atmosphere of the Lock Lounge Cafe & Restaurant, located on the upper floor of the old WWII control tower building where sitting outside on the balcony watching the aviation world go by has become a pastime for many. The Cafe is open every day from 9:00am to 5:00pm and provides a varied menu ranging from hot & cold drinks and snacks to full meals, all freshly prepared to order, including the legendary "Flying Start" breakfast.
Also on site and not to be missed is the museum of the Wartime Aircraft Recovery Group. The museum is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00am to 5:00pm and admission is free.
Situated with immediate access to unrestricted airspace, facilities and services for pilots and student pilots include two licensed hard surface runways, a grass runway, Avgas 100LL, Jet A1, Part-FCL PPL, IMC & Night Training / Revalidation and Aerobatics Training. The club house and cafe boast free Wi-Fi internet access and the flight planning room includes full briefing facilities including a dedicated flight planning computer hosting SkyDemon planning software.
