Founded in April 1978 the Wartime Aircraft Recovery Group locates, recovers, conserves and displays items of interest from wartime aircraft and carries out research into wartime aviation and airfields.

The Wartime Aircraft Recovery Museum was officially opened at Sleap Airfield by Shropshire Aero Club founder member and ex spitfire pilot Adam Wojda in July 1999.

The museum has on display items from Thunderbolt, Hurricane, Spitfire, Master Wellington, Lancaster and many other wartime aircraft all of with have been recovered and/or donated to the group. The museum is also home to a full size replica Spitfire and Fury which are on display at special events.
